This essay explains the right response for a couple which has divorced and remarried from a covenant marriage. Among other New Testament passages against remarriage, Romans 7:2-3 and 1 Corinthians 7:39 both teach clearly that the marriage bond if for life, and is only broken by death. Those living in adultery through a remarriage need to separate. At the minimum they end their marital intimacy, but more fully, they must stop living together. It is the same we would expect of a couple practicing ordinary adultery. According to Scripture, no adulterer will inherit the kingdom of heaven.
