Bill Engvall has shared the origins of his famous “here’s your sign” line. The backstory to the popular comedian’s signature saying is just as hilarious as expected. Watch the short but hysterical clip to hear how he came up with his “here’s your sign” refrain.

Making a living as a stand-up comedian is a tall order. Thousands of people dream of doing just that. However, having a dream and making that dream a reality are two entirely different things. Some comedians go years without making it big, never getting their big break. Others, for whatever reason, connect with audiences and become massive draws, making millions of dollars.

Whatever the case may be, many comedians have a signature line, catchphrase or joke they are known for. It helps set them apart from all the rest, because maybe even if people don’t know the comedian’s name, they might know their catchphrase. Bill Engvall is one of those comedians with one of the most recognizable catchphrases: “Here’s your sign.”

In a clip posted on YouTube, the longtime comedian shares how that phrase came about and how it has changed over the years. He also mentioned how the phrase perfectly describes many people, including people who would buy his merchandise in the early days of his career.

“Back in the old club days, when I was doing that, the bit used to say, ‘That I thought stupid people should be slapped,’” Bill says. “But, you know, my wife was looking out for me, and she said, ‘You know, you don’t look like the kind of guy who walks around slapping people.’”

Based on his wife’s critique, Bill came up with the idea of a sign individuals would wear that said, “I’m stupid.” He even started selling such signs. While selling those signs, Bill discovered that there was a lot of truth to what he was saying on stage.

“And I used to sell those little signs after the shows for a $1 apiece or two for $5,” he said. “And you would be amazed at how many people paid two for $5. Instead of, go figure. Here’s their sign.”

Contentment isn’t natural—it must be learned. As our evening prayer and devotional remind us, in our culture of striving and scrolling, it’s easy to believe happiness comes only with the “next best thing.” Social media highlights often amplify our discontent, drawing our focus to what we lack rather than what we have. That’s why Paul’s words in Philippians 4 are so powerful. He didn’t write them from a place of ease or abundance, but from prison. His chains remind us that contentment isn’t based on circumstances—it’s a matter of perspective. Comparison may whisper, “You’re behind, you’re forgotten, you’ll only be happy if life looks like theirs.” But God’s truth counters with something better: “Even if this season looks different from what you dreamed, I am still working. Even if you’re still waiting, your life is still sacred and good.” Contentment grows slowly, often through tears, especially when life involves loss or waiting. But joy isn’t only found in what we gain; it’s also discovered in how God carries us through what we’ve lost. It’s natural to feel proud when we accomplish something—whether at work, school, or in our relationships. But Paul’s reminder to the church in Corinth, and in today's devotional and prayer, shifts our perspective: our successes are not our own, but the work of God through us. The Corinthians struggled with division and pride, boasting about their leaders and achievements. Paul called them back to the heart of the gospel—Christ alone. Our gifts, victories, and opportunities are not for our own glory but for God’s. When we boast in the Lord, we redirect praise where it belongs. This doesn’t mean ignoring our blessings, but rather using them as opportunities to magnify the grace, mercy, and love of God. True joy comes when we celebrate His work in us and through us. Dick Van Dyke serenaded his wife on her birthday and also shared how the two met. The Hollywood legend delivered an incredibly adorable musical performance. Watch the short but oh so sweet clip to listen to Dick sing and tell about the first time he laid eyes on his wife.

There are very few people alive who are as beloved as Dick Van Dyke. One could argue that in recent memory, the only other person to reach that level was the late Betty White. Dick's work, including "The Dick Van Dyke Show," "Mary Poppins," "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" as well as "Diagnosis Murder," has been loved and admired for decades. Not only that, but he appears to be a genuine, good-hearted person who loves and appreciates what he has and has been able to do with his life.

Despite being nearly 100 years old, he remains somewhat active, making public appearances occasionally. In a clip posted on YouTube, Dick's wife, Arelene, was celebrating her birthday with her husband right by her side. In fact, he led the room in singing "Happy Birthday," which he ended by planting a big kiss on her lips.

Following the musical performance, Dick took the microphone and shared a little bit about the couple's history, including the first time he laid eyes on the person he calls the most "beautiful woman" he's seen in his life.

"I never walked up to a strange woman in my life," he said. "I was backstage at the Emmys, I guess. SAG Awards. I was just waiting to go on. She walked by without even thinking. I jumped and said, 'Hi, I'm Dick.' And I found out she was a makeup lady, hired her, and now we've been married 13 years, and I couldn't be happier."

A husband’s sweet serenade to his wife on a tough day will melt your heart. He played the young woman a beautiful song when he knew she had a rough day. Watch the short but oh so sweet video to see and listen to the husband play a song for his wife.

There are many ways to express love and show someone how much we care for and about them. The list of actions is long and seemingly endless. It goes from big, grand, flashy and expensive gestures to something as simple as holding the door for someone else.

It really does not matter how someone shows love for another person; what truly matters is that someone takes the time to actually do it. One may argue that the smallest gestures mean the most because they are often the most personal and show that the other person is paying attention and responding to the specific situation.

In a clip posted on social media, a husband responded to the situation when he noticed his wife had experienced a challenging day. He can tell her mood and that her day could have gone better.  However, instead of waiting for direction, he saw a need, took the initiative and acted, knowing exactly what would make her feel better.

So, wanting to cheer her up and brighten her day a little, he brought out his guitar and began strumming and singing along. A big smile came across her face within seconds, after the first couple of notes were played. He had already made her feel that much better, even before he started singing to her.

That was a beautiful and heartwarming act of love. The husband knew that his wife was not feeling great, and so he did what he could to make her feel a little better.

I came across this familiar story from Scripture that reminds of me why you and I live in hope- God's gifts of faith and grace... The criminal hanging alongside Jesus is guilty, by his own admission, yet forgiven in an instant because of his faith in the mercy of Jesus... In another story, “Jesus Heals a Sick Woman (Luke 8),” a suffering woman is likewise freed from misery through her faith in Jesus...Faith is like oxygen, it seems to me, a life-enabling element that is as accessible as the air we breathe. If that idea and these stories that illustrate it don’t give us hope, what can?
